Thailand Coastal Conservation Internship
Overview
A focused two-week introduction to marine and coastal conservation on Thailand's Andaman coast, based near Trang. You help survey coral reefs, monitor mangroves and seagrass beds, and record the marine life — sea turtles, reef fish and coastal birds — that depend on these fragile habitats.
Short, immersive and genuinely useful, it is the perfect first step into marine conservation.
Programme structure
Two intensive weeks: a fast grounding in marine survey methods and species identification, then straight into the water and along the shore for reef, mangrove and seagrass monitoring, finishing by adding your data to ongoing coastal research.
Learning outcomes
In two weeks you gain a real grounding in marine survey methods — coral, mangrove and seagrass monitoring, species identification and data collection — and a clear sense of whether a marine career is for you.
Certification
On completion you receive the Impact-Trails Marine Conservation Field Certificate, recognising your field skills and project hours.
Itinerary / typical week
Around 35–40 hours a week split between snorkel-based reef surveys, mangrove and seagrass monitoring, beach and data work, and marine-life observation. Evenings and the weekend leave time to enjoy the islands.
The location
The Trang coastline is a quieter, wilder stretch of southern Thailand — limestone islands, clear water, mangrove channels and seagrass meadows that are vital feeding grounds for dugongs and turtles. It is one of the country's marine conservation gems.
